Hi dear Extreme Networks Members
I want to tell you about a strange case that is happening to us in an AP460e installation to see if any of you have encountered the same thing.
We are installing an AP460e network on six-meter-high poles. We are leaving a console cable connected that reaches 10 meters for maintenance purposes.
It is happening to us that sometimes the AP460e are behaving in a strange way in which communication is lost; sometimes they get stuck and when we go to see what is happening and connect the console cable to the laptop, the AP loses communication.
Could it be that the console cable is too long and produces this strange behavior?
Has anyone of you had this experience?
A colleague has told us that Cisco has indicated this strange behavior in some of its APs when the console cable is too long. Do you know anything about this?
I would be very grateful if someone could give me some feedback on this issue
With my best regards
Hann

Débit (bps) Longueur (pieds) Longueur (m)
19200 50 15.237
9600 500 152.37
4800 1000 304.75
2400 3000 914.27
As far as i know, the Console Interface on AP should be a real RS232-C interface (+-3/15v), but sometimes it's just a TTL level +5/0 , so the length and kind of cable ( shielded or not) should be a problem.

Thank you very much dear @Pierre_LAURENT
Perhaps the problem we have is due the distance of the cable

may be you can fix by default the CLI Speed at a lower speed ( 19200 is suficient)to prevent los of connection .

Thank you @Pierre_LAURENT
It is possible to fix the speed through the WiFi Controller (ExtremeWireless WING)
