VX9000 Initial setup with NAT and DHCP

VX9000 Initial setup with NAT and DHCP

Hello !

I'm running new installed VX9000 on VMware machine.

Does anybody have a sample config file with configuration where it works as NAT (interfaces ge1 to ge2) and DHCP server (on Ge2) for APs and CPEs (connected to those APs)?

Also when I add ethernet adapters to VM, it assigns MAC addresses only to Ge1 and Ge2. However I'm using VMXnet3 adapter type over 10G interfaces ! But even if I add 3 or more network adapters to my VM it is still not detected in XGe1,2,3,4 ports , but only on 2 adapters in Ge1&2 - checked "show interfaces".

Thank you.

Hi,

the VX9000 supports only up to two 1G interfaces as far as I know.
Please find attached a How-To guide for NAT.

Good luck!

Hi,

As the KB article https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000086629 states, neither VMware Tools nor Linux open-vm-tools are supported on VX9000.

Because of this, the interfaces can probably only be configured as E1000.

I hope this helps.

Not true my friend !

On latest VX9000-7.9.7.0-008R it is detected now if you choose vmxnet3 type as adapter type. It also says speed:10G "show interf breef" ! But assigned to Ge1 or Ge2 adapter type, but not to xge1,2,3,4 !

Ok, but remember:

I wouldn't start a new deployment with VX9000 unless it's an environment consolidation. You should already be thinking about using XIQ-C.
