low download speed from enterasys download section

Hi,
when downloading files from extranet.enterasys.com/downloads - section I usually only get download speeds up to 240kbyte/s. Today its only 120 kbyte/s and I have to download appliance image updates which are gigabytes large.

Our internet connection is gigabits strong. A tracreroute to extranet.enterasys.com shows the following path: our border -> X-WIN (German Science Backbone) -> peering in Frankfurt/Main to he.net (Hurricane Electric Internet Services ) -> trans-atlantic to NYC -> peering in NYC to lighttower.net -> enterasys customer server.

Can anyone from europe confirm these speeds or does anyone have higher download speeds?

Hi Robert,

Thank you for bringing this up! We are aware that depending on the size of a file and the location of the end user, the download time for files served from our DMS may increase. This has to do with the fact that our files are all hosted locally in Salem, NH. We've explored a content delivery network which would replicate our files around the world and would greatly improve download speeds, however we do not yet have a date when work on this project would begin. Until that project kicks off, if you find that the download speed is so slow that it prevents you from successfully downloading a file, please contact your GTAC rep who can provide you with a copy.

Thank You,

Hi all,
I concur. Never really fast.
Here's my traceroute from Europe:

Just my 2c.

Yep, it's slow in Australia too. Perhaps there's TCP window scaling problems?

Hi Robert, I have asked for someone from our IT group to take a look at what you are experiencing to see if there is something that can help speed up your downloads. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and hopefully we can have something for you shortly.
