Summary
The 10G-SR-SFP300M-ET Optic is no longer qualified for use with any VDX platforms.
Impact
Use of a 10G-SR-SFP300M-ET optic on a VDX platform may result in intermittent interface link flaps.
Product Affected
VDX 8770, VDX 6940, AND VDX 6740 PLATFORMS *ONLY*
10G-SR-SFP300M-ET OPTICS
Symptoms
Interfaces with 10G-SR-SFP300M-ET may repeatedly log physical layer link down errors with RASLOG message code NSM-1003, protocol link downs with message code NSM-1002, and link ups with message code NSM-1001.
Higher layer protocols may also repeatedly record loss of connectivity.
Workaround
The 10G-SFP-SR transceiver should be used for VDX platforms.
Solution
Compatibility for transceivers and cables with various switching families (SLX, MLX, VDX, EXOS, VSP, etc.) should be verified prior to ordering, using the Extreme Optics compatibility website https://optics.extremenetworks.com.
