Custom captive portal redirect to external URL after login

Custom captive portal redirect to external URL after login

Hi again,

this time I have two questions about redirects triggered by a successful login inside a captive portal .

I've noticed that when you create a captive portal set with the "CUSTOMIZE AND PREVIEW" option set, you can specify an URL to which the user will be redirected. Why it is not possible also when selecting the "IMPORT HTML" option for the captive portal?

Is that because when you import HTML you can already define an url to where the user will be redirected inside the HTML (JavaScript) files?

Also related, since Android now opens the page for the captive portal login inside a window and not inside a browser, and iOs does the same thing with their application, there is a way to force the browser installed on the device to open an external URL (for example Google) upon successful login?

Or because the captive portal is managed by the OS systems in this way, the redirect is only used to change the captive portal window URL and so it would be useless once the user or the device decides to close the window of the captive portal login?

Thanks in advance for you answers.

You are correct, if you are importing the HTML, you'd want to configure the redirect URL within the HTML file. We aren't able to force individual devices to use different CWP behavior, that would be a device level configuration project.
