Hi,

My problem is very easy to describe:

I can't install Ridgeline 4.0 because it always finish installation with the following message:

Problem in Database creation
Database Creation:
Ridgeline 4.0 installation could not be continued because
Ridgeline 4.0 database creation has failed. Exit code: 0

Host OS: Windows 7 Pro 64b (fresh install)

I tried to install the 32 et 64b version of Ridgeline 4.0: same problem.

EDIT:
I tried to install Ridgeline 4.0 32b on the Windows XP mode (Virtual PC) on the same host:
Installation is working fine !

The problem seem to be only with Windows 7 Pro 62b

Any idea ?...

Precisely for this reason said to be fast in time to update the file once created the folder, since the modification should be made, that then he will run the bat file, if it falls at the time of the exchange he tries to run, happened this, and you will have to do this. (It is not necessary to make the windows XP, 7 or even 8 now works)!

Hi,

With the modification of the "install.bat", installation is OK, but Ridgeline doesn't work
(the db for Ridgeline is not created)

But I found a solution:

- Install Ridgeline 4.0 32b on Windows XP.
- Make a backup of the directory "C:\Program Files\Extreme Network\Ridgeline 4.0\database\db" (the 3 Ridgeline services must be stopped)
(create somewhere a empty directory named "database" and copy "db" in it)

- Start the Ridgeline 4.0 (tested only with 64b. version...) installer on Windons 7 64b. (non US)
- Just after the last "Next", during the begining of the installation, the "Ridgeline 4.0" directory is created under C:\Program Files\Extreme Network
- Copy the backup of the "database" in the Ridgeline 4.0 directory. Be fast... (=> ....Ridgeline4.0\database)
- No more "Problem in Database creation" ...
- Finish the installation (IP port, licence, ...)

Tested: Ridgelin 4.0 can work fine in Windows 7 64bits French...

The problem seem to be just a LITTLE bug in the install. package.
But, instead of re-package correctly their installer, Extreme Network prefer to reply "Sorry, Ridgeline 4.0 can only be installed on Windows 7 US".
Distressing...

It may probably work for Windows 2008 (non US) too....

Solution:

Once created the folder "PostgreSQL"
Find and susbituir the file "install.bat" by the attached.

The problem happens at address an install of the database within the file, making reference to the old version, like the folder does not exist, the problem arises.

Open the installer, follow the procedures, before being executed the installation of the database, replace the file! (Be fast)

File: install.bat

Content: below

postgresql-9.2.2-1-windows-x64.exe --mode unattended --unattendedmodeui minimalWithDialogs --superaccount postgres --superpassword postgres --servicename postgres --datadir "c:\program files\Extreme Networks\Ridgeline 4.0\database\db" --prefix "c:\program files\Extreme Networks\Ridgeline 4.0\Postgres 9.2"

If you have bought Ridgeline you can open a service request on the esupport portal.

For my interrest, why you MUST install Ridgeline on windows system?
Have you Hyper-V in your windows server, you can create a linux box and test install Ridgeline.
