Is anyone aware of a retention setting for location data in Netsight (in regards to wireless clients)? I find that when I am tracking a client, I can usually only roll back the past 15 minutes or so. Certainly no more than an hour.
Is this data coming from a cache that is flushed periodically? If so, is there a way to raise the retention period so that I can have more historical data?
We have had some complaints from wireless users and I believe that their mobile carts are being dragged between different floors - but the NIC is remaining connected (or reconnecting) to the originating floor. But I don't really have enough history to see half or a full workday.
I am running version 7.0.8.34.

I've "deployed" 2 extra APs and now I get triangulation results, let's see in an hour whether I'd roll back >15Min.

I am currently (and often) working out of a glorified construction trailer. It has roughly this same shape, and only one access point. Except - no walls. So I know the feeling. 🙂 Thanks for trying to play along!

I'd take a look on my system but I can't even find the right view in EMC for that  any hints...

Hey Ron,
I am going into Analytics > Application Flows. Then right-click a client address, and "Search Maps". Once onto a map, there is a checkbox in the upper-right corner that says "Time-lapse location". Check that box, and click the little blue refresh button. Then you should have arrows to go forward and back in time.
Of course this all only works if you have maps set up for your location(s)! Which, if you don't, you totally should. Because this is a fantastic feature. 🙂
