VLAN Definition via EMC (Netsight)

VLAN Definition via EMC (Netsight)

Sometimes Netsight 8.0.x does not allow VLAN Definition on new switches.

See here - EXOS Switch with V16.2.4.5:

If i start MIB Browser i can read VLAN Information.

At next day it works ...

It seems that there needs to be a overnight run to recognize the ability for 802.1Q MIB VLAN Management ...

Does anybody know how to trigger this process (that i do not have to wait overnight) ?

Or is there another reason why netsight does not offer VLAN Definition on this switch ?

Thanks for feedback.

Sure we can use scripts, but it is not the same thing. Scripts are good for batch configuring maybe but it is best if we can see the ports vlan config on OneView device view and make changes there.

We tested a 3rd party NMS software and It was capable of creating/configuring vlans and ports on HP/Cisco/AlliedTelesis and all Enterasys gear we have (even legacy A2H series which EMC 8.x even fails to list device ports correctly). And believe me I had a hard time to explain why the official and paid NMS can't do this while a third party one can.

Dear Rahman Duran.

please check the GitHub = https://github.com/extremenetworks/ExtremeScripting/blob/master/Netsight/oneview_CLI_scripts/README....

There is script you can import to the Extreme Management Center and you can configure VLAN on XOS 15.3 and newer the same way as on Cisco Catalyst.

Let me know your experience.

The script is tested on Extreme Management Center version 8.0.4.54

Hi Nees,

AFAIK the "edit device" window will provision the switch from the site configuration. It may not fetch the VLAN info from switch.
Can you check the "device view" for the VLAN information and see if the info is present there?
right click device > view > Device details > Device view

For a last test i upgrade the switch to EXOS 22.3.1.4 PAtch 1-4 (because i use a G2 Switch) and surprise, surprise after re-descovery VLAN Definition is possible !
