AP1130 and AP650(AH) firmware divergence?

I noticed that firmware for the AP650(AH) is out, with the new version being 10.5.4.0.

I updated a few of the AP's that had zero clients, startign on my AP650(ah)'s, and then went to update the firmware on the AP1130's. thats when i noticed that 10.5.4.0 wasnt an option, only the previous version 10.5.3.0.

Whats going on?  since ive had this system (since Aerohive) its been the same firmware for the AP650's as it has for the AP1130's.

Dont tell me that the firmware is going to start to diverge based on the model of AP... please dont tell me that.... not a good idea..

Anyway, im interested why the latest isnt available for the AP1130's, anyone?

Well, the AP1130's have a firmware update.  Im re-posting this, as I did post again, but it didn't show up here.  Reposting it, this time as a reply to my first post may help with that.

Here is the version number:

10.6r1a and it takes about 7.5 minutes to fully update, along with two reboots, which makes me think this is a security fix - No release notes on that version so far, so i am guessing its a security fix.

Anyway, wanted all to know that check posts here.

Thanks,

J.

I just got another update, and here is is:

"it has been determined that 10.5r4 and 10.5r5 should be supported for the 1130. We are currently in the process of bringing this up with engineering. "

So, it appears something else is going on which is causing the AP1130's to not "see" either of the last two firmware updates.

If/when that changes, ill post back.

Thanks, Jason.

Another update, per GTAC:

"I am now being informed that there was some bad information passed down and that 10.5r4 and 10.5r5 are not going to be supported by the 1130."

Yes it is, not it isnt, yes it is, no it isnt.....

The saga continues.

If it stays that it isn't please ask why, it's an AC AP and there are lots of other AC ones still supported.

According to End of Sale and End of Service Life - Extreme Networks they are supported till July 31, 2025.

Well, prepare to be pissed.  Oh, and I couldnt get a "why" out of them, only this:

"I was able to get clarification today regarding this. Official word from PLM is that that 10.5r4 and 10.5r5 are not going to be supported by the 1130 and it has been requested to close the internal case with engineering as well."

What bull-crap.  I requested a management review, and will also bring our Extreme rep into this.  So even internally they screwed up, as evidenced by both newer release notes saying AP1130's are included.  Im SO pissed right now.

@daniel1 you showed that the AP1130's still have almost 2 years before EOL... how the hell can they not support future firmware for those AP's.. what about security updates, as im sure there will be other vulnerabilities!  insane
