Using VLAN Group on SSID

Using VLAN Group on SSID

Hello,

I tested a VLAN Group on an SSID with a default user profile and specified VLAN 100,200.

I configured a Switch Engine port with VLAN 100 and VLAN 200 as tagged on the AP port.

I tested two client PCs expecting one MAC to appear in VLAN 100 and one in VLAN 200. Round-robin if you like. But both devices appeared in FDB of VLAN 100 and VLAN 200 was not used.

If I remove VLAN 100 from the port and the VLAN Group the MAC addresses are learnt in VLAN 200.

My question is this, does the round-robin only apply to ports where the tagged VLAN is set to one of the VLANs in the list, not both? So, for example AP1 on port 15 would have VLAN 100 tagged and AP2 on port 16 would have VLAN 200 tagged. Same SSID used.

I could try another port with a second AP and prove it but I only have one AP.

Thanks,

Rob

Edit: It appears to want to only use the first VLAN ie 100 in the list when using VLAN Group as default profile. I'm wondering if VLAN Groups are more for using with RADIUS and identifying devices or users?

Or should I be using Cloud Configuration Group and have rules that assign VLAN based on the floor location? Basically want to split a large subnet into smaller ones and keep the SSID the same.
