We just completed an install of 460-G2s mostly the 10g version. On multipule switches we found we were not able to get 1gig links to come up on the 10gig vim modules.
We are running code summitX-15.6.2.12-patch1-1.xos
The intent was to bring the stacks up at 10g on LRM optics which is why we have the vims. As we have seen before with older fiber even LRMs and Modals would not get the links to come up at 10g. It was when we tried to fail back to 1gig that we discovered the problem.
We do have 1 switch running two 1gig links off the vim but we have 3 or 4 switches that would not bring up the 1gig link unless we moved the optics to the front ports.
Everything I can find indicates that this should work. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed with an upgrade, but we'll see what Drew finds in his testing.
I saw that storm on the news this morning and it does look nasty. Best of luck with the weather.
I have already been testing in our lab and have not been able to recreate the problem. I have tested about 8 different sx optics.
Differences are we have older switches and a new code version loaded. I am working to dumb this stack down but got locked out due to the password hash changes.
Also I cannot recreate the building fiber, but that should not be a factor because they are running on the same fiber on the front ports that would not work on the VIM.
David,
As soon as I can get the gear together, we're going to test it. Full disclosure, we've got some pretty nasty weather coming our way tomorrow and it may be next week before it can be tested in my lab... š
I'm hoping its something that is fixed with an upgrade though.
I think, first question have to be - is 10gig VIM module support 1gig speed?
Because in Data_Sheet and HW_Install_guide there is no information that this VIM can work in 1gig.
