BD 8810 does not recognize Extreme XFP

Hi Experts!

We have two BD8810 with 10G8Xc modules installed. Now we have the Problem, that some of the inserted XFPs are not recognized. They are marked as !Unknown.

This happens with FW 15.7, 15.6.2.12, 15.5.4.2.

Has anyone seen this on Extreme devices?

I think you might be looking at an XFP with a problem. The optic-info looks good but if you get error messages like that there are problems reading information from that XFP. It looks like these are from 2007, maybe the Unknown reporting XFP's are broken ?

I've found now in the log the following Output:

Slot-1: aspendiags: Unable to open XFP-EEPROM device for port 6, rv -1

Hi,

okay, !UNKN is indeed different from that solution I gave you. Are you sure these are extreme networks XFP's ?

What is the output of debug hal show optic-info ?

Hi Oscar!

Thank you for your answer. I've tried now three different Firmware Releases, but the !Unknown Status is always here. So, after a reboot, it's not gone 😉
