graphing vlan traffic

Hi,

We would like to enable graphing for vlan traffic, we have over 3000 vlans on some switches. I just would like to know will this have any impact on the CPU on the switches. We are using X670-V, X460 and X440 within our network.

Thanks
Ian

It depends on how much information is being requested. I would recommend trying it on one of the switches and then monitor the "top" output and "show cpu-monitor". Are there any other SNMP polling devices on the network?

Hi Patrick,

Yes this is for SNMP polling so we can graph this via our NMS, this is done every 5 minutes. When you say too often is 5 minutes ok?

Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

Can you please be more specific. Are you referring to a SNMP poll for information? If so this could cause a short increase in the SNMP processes while the information is being gathered. As long as this doesn't happen too often it should not cause a problem on the switches.
