What VIM module works in a 5520 for both 1g and 10g?

We have multiple 5520 switches that have a VIM4-X module in.  The issue with this module is that it only passes IP traffic with 10GB SFP+ modules in them.  1GB SFP modules will link up but no IP traffic will go across the link.

I'm in a situation where  I need to order two more 48 port PoE switches for a new building project.  If I order 5520's again just to match what we mostly have, what kind of module do I need in the side that will work with BOTH 1G SFP AND 10G SFP+ modules?  Or do I have to step down to a 450G2/460G2 (when is EOL on that anyway?)

Thanks in advance!

We don’t have access to change the settings in isp handoff devices, like Ciena, ADVA, MRV, etc.

I placed an order for 2 48port poe 5520’s dual 1100w power supplies and each with the VIM-4XE.

The newer VIM is stated to work with such network staples like auto negotiation, a networking feature we’ve taken for granted for the last 25 years.

So what I like about the X450G2 / X460G2 and even the higher end like X690's etc... is that when you put a 1g SFP in, the link will be automatically established.  The issue with turning off auto negotiation is much of the time we don't have control of the other end, in the case of an ISP NID/handoff.  They lock us out of that be it a Ciena, MRV, or what have you metro ethernet switch.

The VIM-4X does not appear to support auto-negotiation so I was wondering if the VIM-4E did?
Or maybe theres another Extreme product line and we should not look at the 5520?  We have a bunch of 5520's because they were brand new. In fact so new that the firmware on them originally did not do autodetect 10/100m on any of the front-facing 48 copper ports until a firmware version later (which we installed).  Simple staples like auto-negotiation seemed to be an issue from the get-go.  Thats fixed on the front 48.

We do not ever plan on running VOSS.  EXOS is fine with a license to OSPF peer on our network.

IS the 5520 the recommended successor to the X450 / X460 G2?

At the end of the day this should work.   the VIM-4X supports 1 and 10GE optics.  I would open a ticket at this point.

For my curiosity what is the device on the other end of the 5520 1GE link?

Either a Ciena Metro Ethernet Switch or a MRV Metro Ethernet NID, supplied by the local ISP.
