XOS version on the download and release notes page

XOS version on the download and release notes page

I'm not an expert on XOS but the version name of the software is very confusing on the download / release note page.

i.e. if I run a "sh version" the switch shows...
Image : ExtremeXOS version 22.4.1.4 by release-manager

Why does the download/release notes page show 22.4 or 21.1.4.Patch1-6.

Could we make it a X.X.X.X format like the output of "sh ver" or did I miss something here !?

Thanks,
Ron

I'd like to beat this death horse a little more.....

I just prepare a switche upgrade and pre-loaded the software so I'd only need to do a reboot during the maintenance window.

Is it FAD that the image is shown without the patch information - I've loaded 22.3.1.4-patch1-8 on the primary slot but as you'd see the output is 22.3.1.4.

The same goes for XMC, it only shows the x.x.x.x without the patch information (Device View, column Firmware) - the correct information is only shown in the description column.

I'm pretty sure when you reboot you'll see the extra line under "primary" that shows the patch version. I remember hearing a reason for this behavior once upon a time, but I don't recall it now.
If you do
code:
show version images
, you'll see the filename and it will have the full patch information. Without doing some more testing, that's all I have for you right now.

Hmm - my switch shows the full string and the release on a "show ver"

I actually like that the patch version is broken out like "-patch1-8". Makes it easier to parse visually, imo. Release 16.1.3, version 6, patch 1-11 (or that's at least how I read it until I followed the link above) Way easier than Intel chip numbers, and shorter than OIDs šŸ˜‰
