Extreme AP3000 Stuck After Switching between OSs

Extreme AP3000 Stuck After Switching between OSs

Hello Extreme Networks Community,
We are experiencing an issue with our Extreme Access Point AP3000 after switching between two different OS versions. The AP is no longer accessible via the web interface, and while initially powered through PoE, the LED eventually goes off after a while, suggesting the device may be stuck between the two OSs.
When checking in ExtremeCloud IQ, the AP appears under "Managed Devices," but there is no MAC address or OS version listed—only the serial number and model are displayed.
Has anyone encountered this issue before, or have any suggestions on how to resolve it? Any guidance on how to restore the AP or access it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance

Hello Meriem,

If you look on the back of the AP at the label, you will see the APIPA IP address (169.254.x.x). Change your computer IP address to an APIPA IP address very close to the one on the label (make sure you use /16 subnet so 255.255.0.0). Plug the laptop into the same switch powering up the AP and try pinging it. Are you successful?

Have you tried resetting the AP by pressing down the reset button for 10 seconds?

The thing is, we don't know what mode the AP is in, if in Cloud or WiNG distributed then it should have pulled an IP address, however if in Centralized mode then it may not. We just need to get in there to change the operational mode unless the AP is bricked and not working then you'll have to RMA it.

Do you still see the AP on the controller?

Hello,

We are not working with a controller. We want to make it work on standalone mode, since we have small resources for a testing lab.

We are attempting to onboard it on cloud

Hello @Mariem,

Please provide full AP model, we have more that one in the AP300 series and need to know which one you are having issues with.

Has the AP pulled an IP address and can you SSH or console into it?
