Migration of AP4000 from On Prem Extreme IQ Cloud Controller to ExtremeCloud IQ

Hi all, we currently have 300+ AP4000 Access Points running locally on Extreme IQ cloud controller. I want to migrate all APs off of the controller into XIQ. All APs are in a provisioned state within XIQ at the moment. I have the network policy ready. Could anyone advise How I remove them from Local IQ Cloud Controller and migrate them into XIQ to be fully managed.

Migrating AP4000 Access Points to ExtremeCloud IQ (XIQ): A Step-by-Step Guide

For users of high-bandwidth streaming apps like Magis TV , it's important to have reliable, high-performance wireless infrastructure—especially for 4K video. Migrating your APs to ExtremeCloud IQ can lead to improved network performance and a better streaming experience overall.

We recently went through a similar migration while optimizing network performance for Magis TV— a streaming app that requires super stable connections for smooth live TV and video delivery. Moving from an on-premises setup to ExtremeCloud IQ definitely helped us with better scalability, easier management, and faster troubleshooting.

For AP4000 migration, make sure:

  • Firmware is updated before onboarding to the new cloud.

  • APs are properly deregistered from the on-prem controller.

  • You double-check your licensing and policy profiles on ExtremeCloud IQ.

It made a noticeable difference for our streaming performance. Good luck with the migration! 🔥

Migrating your AP4000 Access Points from the local IQ Cloud Controller to ExtremeCloud IQ (XIQ) involves the following steps:

Prepare the APs:

Ensure that all AP4000 devices are in a provisioned state within XIQ.

Confirm that your network policy is ready for deployment.

Release APs from Local IQ Cloud Controller:

Access your local IQ Cloud Controller.

Select the AP4000 devices you intend to migrate.

Execute the "Release to Cloud" command to reset the APs and prepare them for XIQ adoption.

Onboard APs to XIQ:

Log in to your ExtremeCloud IQ account.

Navigate to the "Manage Devices" section.

Use the "Advanced Onboarding" feature to add the APs by entering their serial numbers or importing a CSV file.

Assign the APs to the appropriate network policy and device group.

Post-Migration Configuration:

After successful onboarding, configure the APs as needed.

Monitor their performance to ensure optimal operation.

For MagisTV APK users, migrating to XIQ-managed APs can improve network efficiency and reduce buffering during high-definition streaming. XIQ offers advanced analytics and monitoring tools that can help identify and resolve network issues, ensuring a seamless streaming experience for Magis TV and other applications.
