I work at a school. We are using an Extreme C35 controller. We have carts of laptops in classrooms next to each other. Is there a way to force the laptops to always connect to a particular AP so that they don't roam to nearby units?

Assuming these carts always stay in the same room, this would be the most reliable way to ensure that they only connect to the AP you want them to connect to.

We have run the calibration on the wireless network. This helped some. The problem is that these are small classrooms and there are glass windows at the top of the wall of the room. So there is a lot of signal leakage from one room to the next. I don't know that the connection limit would help as the laptops are seldom used and it's likely that the AP's will always be under any limit set.

Depending on how many APs you have in your environment you could try decreasing the cell size so that clients cannot connect from an adjoining room.
Alternatively you could consider using load groups and limiting the number of connections per radio per AP?
Hope this helps.

Ideally, we want to do this from the Wireless Controller in a way that it can be changed as needed. (In example.. a cart is loaned to a different classroom.)
