AP460C DFS operation

AP460C DFS operation

Hi Guys,

I have single AP460C-WR access point in my installation (all other APs are AP302W and few AP305C). Only DFS channels are selected for operation in 5GHz band (channels 100, 120 and others).

I've found some DFS events in Cloud IQ, causing instant channel change.

I was trying to modify radio profile to exclude all DFS channels, but even after reboot AP still sets channels within DFS range. My country code is Poland (616).

Is there any way to force AP460C not to use DFS channel range?

Hello Robert,

No matter what, DFS channels cannot be disabled on that AP460C AP. Here's an article on same: https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000084522

On an AP run command: #show acsp neighbor

Check to see where the interference is coming from that is triggering channel change.

Also command:

#show int w1

Start by looking at summary state, what message are you seeing?

Hello Robert,

Start by running the command: #Show int w1 | inc dfs

Check for detected radar signals and exclude those if you get any hits.

Hello Christoph,

Here is what I have:

AP_.....#show interface w1 | inc dfs
DFS=Dynamic Frequency Selection; CU=Channel Utilization;
BGSCAN with client=enabled; BGSCAN with PS client=disabled; BGSCAN allow DFS home=disabled
DFS=enabled; Number of detected radar signals=0; DFS static-channel restore=disabled;
DFS backup channel=Not set;

No signals detected, but AP was rebooted recently.

I'll put some fresh info, if any radar signal would be detected.

I was contacting GTAC, but since I don't have Support Contract for device, I was offered one time paid support and article to read: https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000084522

Then I've found another article: https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000105231 , which says that it is possible to run AP460C using UNII-3 channels range in 5GHz radio.

I still cannot force AP to change 5GHz channel outside DFS range using Cloud IQ GUI. For now I simply disabled 5GHz radio on AP, but I guess it's not the accepted long-term solution.

Anyone having AP460C running UNII-3 channels?
