Hi! Our Extreme 410 and 510 APs are connected to old cisco switches. When we set inline power on a port to auto the APs draw either 31.6 watts "from PS" and 30.0 "to Device". We've manually set ports to this as well.

In CoPilot anomalies we see this message for every AP.

This AP xxxxx needs at least AT (30w) power to operate at its maximum capacity but has been negotiated down to AF (15w) power.

Is this a problem? Our switches aren't capable of providing any more power. This is the only thing we've ever seen from CoPilot, does anyone ever get anything useful out of it?

The issue is probably that the Cisco switches are too old and cannot properly classify the APs. This KB talks about the issue and how to resolve it: https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000113244

Hello @Macknkss,

Please make sure that lldp is enabled on both the switch and APs for proper power negotiations.

Here's an article on same for your perusal: https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000058855

BR,

Christoph S.

Thanks for replying, LLDP is enabled on the switches and in Extreme

Following that guide, I don't see the "ADDITIONAL SETTINGS" to check. when in the AP though I get this:

AP-3N-HQ134-410#sh lldp
LLDP general information
----------------------------
Enabled: yes
Fabric Attach Enabled: yes
Number of LLDP neighbors: 1
Max number of LLDP neighbors: 64
Sending LLDP packets interval (seconds): 30
Sending a holdtime value (seconds): 90
Sending a required power value (watt): 25.5

  1. Make sure that LLDP is enabled on the APs by going to Configure >> Network Policy >> Click on the Network Policy name >> ADDITIONAL SETTINGS >> NETWORK SERVICES >> LLDP/CDP >> Make sure the setting is ON >> Check the box for: Enable LLDP on access ports >> SAVE >> NEXT >> DEPLOY POLICY >> Complete Configuration Update >> PERFORM UPDATE
