AP6521 and Virtual Controller VX9000

Hello,

Is it possible to adopt AP6521 on VX9000?
I have one for testing and >show adoption status shows that:
x9000-0AFA00>vx9000-0AFA00>show adoption status
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEVICE-NAME VERSION CFG-STAT MSGS ADOPTED-BY LAST-ADOPTION UPTIME
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ap7632-8C63C2 5.9.1.2-006R configured No vx9000-0AFA00 0 days 02:23:40 0 days 05:06:48
ap6521-42F852-AP 5.9.1.0-029R version-mismatch No vx9000-0AFA00 0 days 00:16:13 0 days 00:18:36
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total number of devices displayed: 2

VX version is 5.9.1.2-006R

So, version-mismatch "means current controller image version does not correspond with current image version of adopted device."
What controller version should have I? I think AP6521 doesn't have 'higher' image version than I have.

Regards,
Adam

Both AP and the controller should be on same firmware version. Try this command ' device-upgrade ap6521 all'

Hello Adam,

  • Yes, the VX9000 should be able to adopt the AP6521 AP.
  • Latest supported version for this AP is 5.9.1.5 so you should be able to bring them both up to this version should you so wish.
  • A LEAN (no GUI) AP image should already be included on the controller. If you'd like to have GUI access to the AP, you'll have to replace the existing image with the standard image: How to upload Wing 5x AP firmware image to Wing controller
  • Since we don't know what your config looks like, it's not clear why the AP did not automatically upgrade but you might want to start by looking at this setting in the VX profile:
profile vx9000 default-vx9000
--
no device-upgrade auto
--
I hope this helps,

Chris

To see the firmware that the controller has reloaded, try this command: 'show device-upgrade versions '
