AP7532 not reaching maximum power

AP7532 not reaching maximum power

Hi there,

We have a deployment with AP7532 located in a warehouse with a height about 14m, we are trying to configure the maximum power for the APs to have  better performance but while standing right below the AP we are just reaching -70dBm aprox, measured with a cell phone running WiFi analizer application.   When we configure the maximum power output (30) we just checked on the statistics of AP under Radio and it only reads 18(of 30 configured).
Why the configuration doesn't reach any higher output? other APs have reached up to 25 (of 30 configured). Is there a way to force the configuration on max output?

Furthermore, I would recommend not to go beyond 15 dBm (32 mW) if you the AP is used for access of mobile devices.
Networking is always a two-way communication.
So if the AP is transmitting with 30 dBm (1 Watt) you may have a good signal at the client side.
But how about the answer from the client to the AP?
Most mobile devices don't have more than 15 dBm (32 mW) output power.

So in the case that AP and mobile device do have the same receiver sensitivity and the AP is transmitting
with 30 dBm. The AP will "hear" the mobile device with 15 dB less signal strength.

Is this really what you are looking for?
I always recommend that the AP should not exceed the maximum output power of the mobile devices,
so the "transmitting distance" is somehow equal...

Best regards,
Angelo

Here's an article that may help explain the math behind the max radio power: https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000088806

The max power is limited by the regulations of the country it is deployed in and you cannot force power beyond what is allowed by said regulations.
