Hello,
XMC is archiving all our backup files from X4xx-G2 and VSP7400 switches to mounted file shares which can be accessed should XMC go down.
While X4xx-G2 files can be read with an editor, VSP7400 files cannot, it requires XMC to read the archived backp file and save it to a human readable file.
In a scenario where I have to do a bare metal restore of core switches with an unavailable XMC, I wouldn’t be able to do so unless I restore XMC, which I can’t, or have a recent file which I saved manually using XMC.
Any ideas how to get these VSP7400 backup files in a human readable format needed for a bare metal restore?
While this might sound inappropriate, are there any other backup tools that can do this task?
Thank you,
Klaus

Contacted GTAC and was told that it is a zip file and I should change the extension to .tgz.
