Alternative to SNMP for XOS switch uptime for Netsight

Hi All Is there any other way of moitoring switch uptime other than SNMP on Netsight? I am finding that SNMP for some switches is to "sensitive" creating quite a few false system down alarms. We however need SNMP to manage our switches.
