High-availability on Virtual ExtremeControl

Hi All,

How can I create a redundant virtual ExtremControl system?
Where do I find installation guide about high-availability?

Similar way than the XMC?
https://emc.extremenetworks.com/content/common/ns_failover/nsf_ht_set_up.html?Highlight=HA

Thanks in advance!
Best Regards,
Attila

Hi Ronald,

Yes, I have installed XMC & Control one time. ļ˜ƒ I don't have much experience in this area.
In this case, can we use XMC instead of NSight?

Thanks, and Best Regards,
Attila

Because you didn't mentioned it... have you ever installed a NAC & XMC before !?

The configuration is done/stored in XMC and then synced to the NAC/NACs.

Hi Ronald and Stephan,

Thank you for your quick answer!
It is clear, I just install two NACs. How can the NACs syncronize the databases or other informations?

Best Regards,
Attila

Hello Attila.

Extreme Control (NAC) acts from the switch or wireless controller point of view like a radius server.

Therefore, the typical radius redundancy mechanisms apply. If the first NAC does not respond, the second is addressed. The two NACs work independently of each other. That's why what Ron says is right.

Just install a second NAC (same way as the first one) without a special HA configuration. Via XMC (or on switch CLI) you can then configure both NACs on the switches and thus create the redundancy from the switch perspective.

Stephan
