Short answer is yes.
The “Devices” are directly modeled and monitored in the system.
The “APs” are the Identifi APs that are monitored indirectly by the system. So when you attach an EWC or XCA appliance the APs that come with it.
You cannot directly model and monitor 100 devices and an additional 1000 APs.

I’m almost positive XIQ is always going to use a 1:1 license structure, but your Sales Engineer will have more information on different licenses available for different platforms, I might recommend reaching out to them directly for help with this. Hello Guys,
I'm working on a project for a customer, where it is a current IdentiFi deployment and want to move to the XIQ, BUT keep using the deployed ExtremeControl.
We are worried about the XMC licensing, because the Control needs the APs added to the XMC to serve as authenticator, but the question no one could answer until now: How the CLOUD APs are counted on the XMC?
I've tested in my LAB (XMC 8.5.with 2 AP510C (former Aerohive AP650) and it shows as Non-Extreme >= 10 ports, consuming 1:1 licenses…

Now, after I deleted 1 AP650:
We are worried, because IF this is true for AP310 and AP410, and IF the customer needs to upgrade the XMC license to support the new APs (if it was 1:10, the customer have plenity of free licenses on XMC, but if it's 1:1, not) the project will be cancelled and we are excluded from the RFP.
Can someone help?

Hi,
it may depend on the type of APs. the answer from Ryan is valid for Identifi APs.
If you add other APs, then each AP does count 1:10 license = 9 APs count as one node license, 11 APs count as 2 nodes.
In my case I have 11 devices with less than 10 ports = counted as 2 nodes
