SNMP Contact Lost Extreme Control

SNMP Contact Lost Extreme Control

Hi All,

We recently installed two new stacks in a location. we're having snmp issues with one of them.

the stack comprises of 4 x x440-g2-48p-10ge4 switches, running code 30.7.2.1

I am able to SSH to the switch but XMC reports it down.

When I review the NAC appliance logs I see these errors;

Have tried restarting the SNMP processes, but no different.

I have reviewed the release notes for the code but no mention of snmp issues and nothing related to a bug in the latest recommended either (30.7.2.1 patch 1-20)

any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks
Ian

Hello,

Usually "No SNMP Authentication Target" is an indication that the switch does not exist in XMC at all.

What happens if you hit the "Clear" button next to the switch?

Thanks

There is a difference between XMC reporting it down or NAC reporting as lost contact.
If NAC reports lost contact XMC will show the switch with a red symbol even if XMC could contact the switch.
You need to check if the issue is only NAC not being able to contact the switch or if XMC can also not poll it.
Check in NAC engine settings IP resolution if you are not overwriting SNMP settings NAC is using for that switch.

Engine Settings > IP Address Resolution > Router IP Discovery?

Maybe, What I wanted you to investigate was if it was only NAC or NAC and XMC loosing contact.
And then check if they both use the right credentials, either with a capture or another way.
