Hi,
Some of our X440G2 switches show high temperatures (around 90°C)
Fans seem to work. So when looking at CPU usage, I’ve noticed the HAL process has a max usage of 99,9% and a constant 20%.
After reading this article I was wondering if the bootROM on the device should get an upgrade.
Currently, IMG version is 22.7.1-2, bootROM is 1.0.1.8
Is it good practice to do the upgrade? Where can I obtain the file?
Maybe there are other ways I should try prior to upgrading?
Thanks!

HAL usage could be high due to different reasons:
- high port numbers (especially if you have stack) # X770 with default config has 30% HAL CPU usage
- bulk SNMP polls put switch into stress
- frequent STP TC
- MAC moves
- etc
If you want further investigation this, please raise case in GTAC.

I’ve applied the ACL from
by running
configure access-list flooding.pol any
Unfortunately, HAL proces CPU usage is not affected.

Link local multicast is the most often reason of the high CPU utilization by HAL.
