What tftp application do you recommend?

Hi all

I am new to EXOS and I just setup a new X430. I wanted to upgrade the firmware and in order to do so I need to setup a tftp server on my machine. I followed the instructions on https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000081258

When I enter the download page I get Google Safe Browsing warnings. I checked the file on Virustotal and they are several hits.

I am not sure in it is only because this software is Riskware or an actual malware.

How ever I am not confident to use this software.

Is there an alternative you can recommend or is there even a better way to upgrade the firmware?

Kind Regards
Beneck

Why are you dabbling now? If for fun, well doesn't matter in my opinion. Might as dabble as much as you can. XMC, https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000080829

Or just use SCP

I love 3CDeamon. It is a quite old tool but still running on Windows 10 without any problems.

It is one tool for TFTP client, TFTP server, FTP server and syslog server.

It is clearly arranged and the log is easily accessible but only available for windows.

I’ve used the SolarWinds TFTP server before, and it works perfectly fine, but I was setting up a new PC recently and wanted to see if I could find a TFTP server that didn’t require giving SolarWinds my email again and unsubscribing from all their marketing communications again. In searching for alternatives, I stumbled on the Open TFTP Server, which is a more bare bones application with minimal config file editing required, but other than that, it worked without issues.

Hi Beneck,

For windows TFTPD32 is the software I have seen the most. Very basic, very simple.

For MacOS I use the embedded tftp server.
