Debugging the app

Could anyone share their approach to debugging the apps? I gather that iperf is used in many places but is there any other way to generate traffic of desired nature for debugging purpose?

inSSIDer

Has anyone used inSSIDer 2.1? I have it on my laptop, but it is only showing 2.4 GHz connections. Why won't it show the 5GHz connections? Both are enabled on the APs and my macbook is connecting on channel 44, so I know it's using 5ghZ.
